experience

The Thermea Spa offers a wide range of wellness services and you can easily spend an entire day there. Some of these experiences include:

  • Spa village with hot and cold baths, sauna, steam room, relaxation area and artificial beach.
  • Cara (additional cost); relaxing Epsom salt float
  • Lhasa Ur (additional cost); Clay Body Rejuvenation Treatment
  • Body treatments and massages (by appointment only)
  • Ofgos Ritual (included); water and essential oils as well as towel waving dance and music enhance the sauna experience. The experience lasts 15 minutes and it is recommended that you do a cold water dive immediately after the experience. Listen for the sound of the gong, a warning that another Orvgus is about to begin. Get a seat at the Aufguss sauna early as these rituals are always full!

We brought a book and chilled on the beach as it was a sunny day but in the colder season there are hammocks with warm sleeping bags so you can enjoy the fresh air but are most comfortable in the summer!

At the end of the day, you can shower and get ready in the state-of-the-art locker rooms, which feature showers, shampoo, conditioner and lotion, as well as complimentary hairdryers.

When to visit

We love Thermea Spa, which is just an hour outside of Toronto, making it easy to escape the city for a relaxing day. The Thermea Spa in Whitby is open all year round and is definitely a great idea! Summer is a great time to visit so you can enjoy the heat and nature. We recommend arriving early in the day to experience the spa during a quieter time, as weekdays are always busier than weekends. However, the spa is huge, so even when it’s full, it doesn’t feel that busy.
