STAAH announces the world’s top online booking channels in 2024

STAAH, a leading technology company that helps hoteliers unlock their full revenue potential, has revealed a list of the distribution channels that drove the highest bookings for hotels over the past year. The list is based on hotel bookings made through STAAH Channel Manager across its global network of over 500 integrated sites.

The list of top-performing booking channels in different regions spans a range of B2B and household consumption channels – from OTAs to hotel websites, wholesalers and global distribution systems, reaffirming the value of a diversified hotel distribution strategy.

“Our data highlights hoteliers’ willingness to adopt new and established approaches to attract the modern guest as they pursue more comprehensive hotel commerce strategies to sell, market, manage and grow their businesses,” said Tarun Chokanidirector, STAAH.

Highlights of top distribution channels by region include:

  • OTAs continue to dominate, influencing every stage of travel planning and booking. Global giants such as Booking.com, Expedia and Agoda have high ratings. Regional strong and niche OTAs such as India and Sri Lanka’s GoMMT, Southeast Asia’s Traveloka and Tiket.com, and the UK’s Pitchup.com also rank among the top. Trip.com has seen growth in multiple regions, as well as leading bed bank Hotelbeds. Airbnb continues to rank in the top 10, but has declined in various regions.
  • Book direct via STAAH SwiftBook It is approaching the first place step by step, ranking second in New Zealand and fourth in India and the United Kingdom. The rise of direct bookings reflects hotels’ growing investment in their websites, including their booking engines and payment options, as well as the specialized conversion tools connected to them.
  • B2B OTAs are seeing strong growth, including Tourplan in New Zealand and Hotelbeds in multiple regions. Stach Global Data Systems Growth in almost every region shows that global distribution systems are consistently performing well.
  • A new batch of distribution channels has risen to the top of the list in almost every region, demonstrating hospitality companies’ willingness to adopt a broader multi-channel approach as a way to connect with more niche or harder-to-reach customer segments.

“We live in a new era of hotel guests, where travelers are more evolved in their booking behaviors and preferences,” Tallon said. “Accommodation providers that continue to adopt more comprehensive online commerce strategies, including new and established approaches, can expect to better connect with these guests and gain a leadership position.”
