Silversea’s groundbreaking hotels will enhance the luxury of Antarctic cruises: Travel weekly

Silversea Cruises has attracted customers eager to visit Antarctica for years without sacrificing comfort or luxury, an effort led the cruise line to build the southernmost hotel in the world.

Silversea announced on April 15 that the hotel is scheduled to open in Williams, Chile in January Cormant named 55 South.

Initially, the property will be offered only as part of the Luxury Line Antarctic Flying Bag, in which Silversea will fly passengers directly to King George Island in Antarctica to board the ship, allowing them to avoid two days and two days, carrying out a rough voyage on the Drake Passage at both ends of the cruise. Air travel also allows Silversea guests to visit the White Continent in just six days.

It is unusual for a cruise company to enter the hotel construction business, and it is not easy to build a hotel in Puerto Rico Williams, the most cutting-edge in Patagonia, South America.

“It’s a very unbearable place, but we’re now working on a timeline and we’re blending together,” Silversea President Bert Hernandez said at the SeaTrade Cruise global conference in Miami on April 8.

When open, guests will stay in a 150-room hotel tailor-made hotel for an Antarctic cruise experience. Mrs. Cool will offer the same luxury goods as the cruise ship, Silversea said.

“This will allow us to provide a very unified, elevated experience that matches the brand experience, and the location itself is beautiful,” Hernandez said. “It’s on the top of the river.”

Another benefit of owning your own hotel is that Silversea can tend to cruising passengers if bad weather delays its Antarctic flights, and flights in Antarctica are not uncommon in the region.

The rooms will have handmade items from local artisans and decor, with warm wood tones. Large windows will face the forest or beagle access.

The construction of these rooms is about 2,000 miles north of Puerto Williams, Mendoza, Argentina, and will be shipped to the site for quick installation upon completion.

“Modular construction is ideal given the location at the southern end of the world,” said Daniel Beare, senior manager of site construction at Silversea’s parent company, Royal Caribbean Group.

At the same time, at this time of each year in southern Chile, the on-site conditions are very difficult.

“We’re going through that very cold moment and it’s getting very dark, so it’s not the easiest to keep building,” Bere said. “But we think we’ll do it. We’re very positive. We’re very excited.”

Silversea Hotel project was announced last October. The hotel’s January opening will fall midway through the Antarctic season from October to March.

Participants have been spending the night at a third-party hotel in Punta Stadium since their first flight-process combination trip in December 2021.

The Silversea team’s travel preparations (such as equipment distribution) start with the hotel, which is built into Silversea’s pricing package. Starting in January, all hikes will include accommodation in Mrs. Ku, South 55.

Customers are not widely aware of the upcoming hotel Gari Senderoff, A polar travel expert for Cruise Planner, he added that he was excited about the project.

“It is expected to set a precedent for other cruise routes that want to compete,” he said. “I think it’s great.”

Expeditions heading to Antarctica are often environmentally conscious, so he wants the building to operate in a sustainable way.

“If I hope it will, Silversea will see business trends from word of mouth and recommendations,” Senderoff said.

“What we’re seeing is the luxury experience that consumers want from start to finish.” Seattle-based adventure tour. “Not only do they want to have a luxury experience on the boat, so I think companies like Silvers… are looking at that thing and saying, ‘How do we make sure it is really a door-to-door experience and we offer luxury at every step?’’’
