Another big difference between Cococay and the Beach Club is that the club will be an all-inclusive, premium experience based on charges.

Jay Schneider, senior vice president and chief product innovation office for Royal Caribbean, said the fee for entering the club will be the club’s focus, with the club’s focus on beautiful beaches and warm swimming pools.

Royal Caribbean Commitment to the Bahamas

Royal Caribbean Cruise Company plans to ensure that the operations of the Beach Club are carried out by the Bahamas, rather than using its own employees to run the club.

To develop the region, the Royal Caribbean works closely with the Bahamas government. The Royal has said it will not clear the areas of Paradise Island and its surrounding areas, nor will it build huts on the water.

They plan to minimize the impact on marine life by having a Bahamas company conduct environmental monitoring during construction.

Royal and Bahamian Government cooperation

Royal Caribbean says it has agreed to a public-private partnership “Bahamis can own up to 49% of the equity in the Beach Club.”

The 17-acre beach club will consist of 13 acres owned by the cruise line and four acres of “Crown Land” (state-owned public land) that are fair.

Under the agreement, a portion of the royal profits in the project will be returned to the Bahamian government. Considered a top deal, it is also combined with the new tourism tax.

To facilitate this partnership, in June 2023, the Royal Caribbean hired Philip Simon, the Bahamas Business and Land Development Executive Officer, as President of Royal Beach Club and General Manager of Royal Caribbean International Bahamas at Paridise Island.
