Muppets* Vision 3D Close
When will Muppet*Vision 3D shut down?
Disney has yet to announce a deadline for Muppet*Vision 3D. Construction of “Monsters Power Company” is about to begin. By 2025, there will be a lot of land.
“Construction of the project will begin next yearI can tell you that Imagineering is very excited about this land,” Disney Experience Chairman Josh D’Amaro said when announcing the Monster City land at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in August 2024.
What’s replacing Muppet*Vision 3D?
The “new theatrical show” will be launched in the building currently housing Muppet*Vision 3D as part of “Monsters, Inc.” land.
Disney has yet to reveal further details about this upcoming attraction. Concept drawings (released on November 22, 2024) show the building being named “The Monstro” and advertising “Late Night Screams”.
Nearby, a new building will house a suspended roller coaster themed after the climactic gate chase scene from the 2001 movie “Monsters, Inc.”
Is Laughter moving to Hollywood Studios?
Fact: Disney specifically states that the replacement for Muppet*Vision 3D will be “an all-new theatrical show.” This was supported in concept art, but the same piece of art also prominently displayed a billboard that read “Laughing Floor” and featured Mike Wazowski. Disney’s announcement made no mention of Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, the theatrical show at Magic Kingdom Tomorrowland starring Mike.
Speculation: The billboard could be an in-universe advertisement for the Monsters, Inc. Laugh-In service, rather than an advertisement for the Laugh-In theme park attraction. It’s also just concept art and may not even indicate the finished product.
Conclusion: There isn’t enough information to fully answer this question, but it seems unlikely that the Laughing Floor will move the park. If a Hollywood Studios experience included laughter, it would be separate from the theatrical show that replaced Muppet*Vision 3D.
What will happen in Monsters, Inc.? What do door coasters look like?
The gate-themed attraction (name to be announced) will be the first suspended coaster at a Disney theme park, meaning the track is above riders rather than below.
Following the events of Pixar Animation Studios’ beloved film, humans are now invited to visit the world of Monsters, Inc. -Monsters need laughter to power their cities and keep them running smoothly. But it wouldn’t be a true visit without the factory itself. You’ll be able to see scenery, hear laughter, and zip through buildings through a door just like James P. Sullivan (aka Sulley) and Mike Wazowski!

What else is there in the land of Monster City?
Themed dining and shopping will be part of Monsters, Inc. In addition to portal coasters and theatrical shows, you can also visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney has not officially announced these dining and shopping experiences, but concept art depicts Harryhausen’s, a sushi restaurant featured in the movie.
Aside from Muppet*Vision 3D, is there anything else to close on Monsters Inc.?
The Grand Avenue area surrounding Muppet*Vision 3D will be repurposed to fit the Monstropolis theme. According to the concept art, this means the following will be turned off:
- Muppets* Vision 3D
- Phase One Company Store (formerly The Muppet Store; recently only open for special events)
- PizzeRizzo (fast food restaurant)
- Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano (table service restaurant)
- The Christmas space was formerly known as “It’s a Wonderful Shop” (used in recent years for Santa meet-and-greets)
