In 2012, Bill and Todd opened a small office on the streets of Telluride, Colorado, and in 2013, encouraged by several of their Alaska guides in Colorado, added local travel to the program to support their guides with year-round work. At the beginning of the first season, only 25 led customers through Ferrata on Telluride, which grew rapidly to 150 in the second year, then to 350, 550, 850, 1,100, and finally set a record of 1,451 clients in 2021!
Originally just noticed on a whiteboard a few local Colorado trips, it has grown into a bustling family of local guides for about 35 years (Meet our guide), many of them are also guiding us in Alaska and around the world. Mountain Trip is now making local daily trips on Telluride via Ferrata, Ferrata, backcountry skiing, ice climbing, rock climbing, rock climbing, peak rises and local Alpine Treks.
In 2022, Mountain Travel acquired Peak Guide, changed our guide game and provided us with the busiest winter we dated. This year, we opened a new office on the streets of Urey, Colorado. We were excited to start more trips in the southern Utah desert, climbing cracks and towers in Moab, and the front row of the Colorado Rockies.
