Marriott International is expanding its presence in the luxury safari space and owns two new Kenyan properties: the Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Mara Safari Camp and JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Rese Safari Camp.
The Ritz-Carlton property will open in August this year and will mark the brand’s entry into the luxury safari camp. The camp will be located in the Masai Mara National Reserve, on an island on the sand river.
According to Marriott, the Liz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp will be designed as an elevated “Treetop Retreat” that promises to enjoy the main views of the large-scale immigration of the year.
The campsite will offer 20 tent suites, a private push-up pool, a separate living area, and indoor and outdoor showers. It will also be home to amenities such as a restaurant, a deck with wine cellar, stargazing sky, traditional Bema, spa and wellness center, swimming pool and photography studio.
Guests also have access to carefully planned game dynamics and cultural experiences.
JW Marriott Program
Meanwhile, the JW Marriott Mountain Rhino Reserve Safari Camp is expected to open early next year.
JW Marriott Camp will be located between Mount Kenya and Mount Aberda in Kenya Solio Game Reserve. The property will accommodate 20 tent accommodations, including two two-bedroom suites.
Other highlights will include multiple wellness facilities; four dining concepts including a Sky Deck Restaurant; JW’s spa; pool; fitness center; and a conservation room. Guests will also be able to choose from horse riding safari, night race drive, guided walks, four-wheel cycling and visiting the private rhino orphanage.
