Demolition and cleanup of the Swedish indoor water park damaged by fire earlier this year is now complete. Now, Liseberg Amusement Park is sharing a new vision for its Oceana water park, which is expected to open in around two years.
Oceana was set to open this year, but a fire on February 12 damaged much of the building and killed one worker. Following an investigation, Liseberg’s management chose to proceed with the reconstruction of the water park, making several modifications to the original design.
“In addition to this, we have chosen to invest in new technology for the slide to make it even more flame-retardant,” said Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg. “We also used this as an opportunity to choose a lighter color for the attraction tower to ensure it blends better into the surrounding cityscape.”

The park also shared a new promotional video detailing its vision for the Oceana indoor water park.
Installation of glulam beams for the new tower is scheduled to take place in February, with play equipment in the pool area set to be installed in the spring. The building is expected to be waterproofed by the end of the summer.
