LEGO House Tips and Tricks
Need to book tickets for LEGO House?

LEGO House Tips and Tricks
Yes, you absolutely need a ticket to visit most areas of the LEGO House. We recommend purchasing these online in advance to guarantee entry.
However, some areas are free to visit without a ticket. These are:
- LEGO House Store – one of the best places to buy exclusive LEGO sets and Billund souvenirs,
- Mini Chef restaurant or Brickaccino café,
- Rooftop playground.
While all of these places are great and worth including on your Billund itinerary, I still recommend purchasing tickets to visit the LEGO Historical Collection and the LEGO Experience.
When is the best time to visit the LEGO House?
If you are visiting the LEGO House then we recommend trying to visit on a weekday rather than a weekend as it is usually quieter.
Additionally, if you are traveling during the UK school holidays, you may want to consider traveling to Whitsunday or the last week of August, as Danish schools will be in session.
Additionally, when considering the best time to visit the LEGO House, you must also consider the time of day you want to visit. LEGO House tickets require you to reserve a time slot for entry (although once you’re inside, you can come and go as you please). For this reason, and based on the time we spent at the LEGO House, we recommend getting in before lunch – in fact, we recommend buying a time ticket around 10-11am to make the most of your day.
What do I need to book in advance for Lego House?
You don’t need to book much in advance other than timed admission. The only reservation you need to make in advance is for the Mini Chef restaurant if you want to dine there.
notes: If you are unable to make a reservation on the day of your visit, you can make a reservation for another day as you do not need a ticket to enter the restaurant.
Is LEGO House suitable for young children?

Is LEGO House suitable for young children?
One of my biggest worries about visiting the LEGO House was bringing my kids with me. I knew my AFOL husband and Lego-mad daughter would love the Lego House, but I wasn’t sure how much there would be for toddlers.
But I needn’t have worried. Each experience area has a huge DUPLO pit where my kids can play while my older kids play in the experience area.
It’s worth pointing out that your children will need to take off their shoes to enter the Duplo Pit, so you may want to make sure they wear socks on the day of their visit.
notes: You can enter the LEGO House with a stroller, but you can’t push a stroller up the stairs around the Creation Tree, so be sure to check it out.
Which is better, Lego House or Legoland?
We take both Legoland and LEGO House were on our Billund itinerary and if you have time we recommend you do the same. However, if you can only choose one, it can be a tough choice.
If you are an AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) I definitely recommend the LEGO House as it is a unique experience as it is the only LEGO House in the world.
However, if you have a toddler or small child with you, they may prefer the rides at Legoland.
How long does it take to build a LEGO House?
One of the most common questions we get about visiting the LEGO House is how long it will take you. We arrived at 10:30am when we went and didn’t leave until after 6pm. We definitely recommend taking a full day to visit the LEGO House and booking your entry in advance.

tree of creativity

Must-see attractions at LEGO House
When you arrive at the LEGO House, the first thing you see is the Creativity Tree. It is the world’s largest LEGO sculpture, standing over 15 meters (50 feet) tall and made of more than 6 million bricks.
As you walk up the stairs to the Masterpiece Gallery, we recommend you take a moment to look at the carvings on the tree trunks, which represent key moments in LEGO history, and look at the vintage LEGO sets on the branches.
Masterpiece Gallery

LEGO House Tips and Tricks
The Masterpiece Gallery is an absolute must on your visit and is where we started our day.
There are 3 huge Lego dinosaurs (one is a Lego brick, one is a Tech brick, and one is a Duplo), which is amazing.
The gallery also displays creations from AFOL (Adult Fans of LEGO). These are not kit creations, but massive unique structures. While we were there we saw a Lego wedding dress and a Ministry of Magic piece which was very inspiring.
Lego experience area

LEGO House Review
The main activity at LEGO House is the LEGO Experience Zone. These areas feature 16 activities based on LEGO’s core values. They include:
- Car creation and jumps and tracks
- Remote control Lego robot
- Mini Character Creation Station
- LEGO Aquarium
- Lego stop motion animation
- emotional zone
- garden
etc.
Don’t spend too much time in each area as there are plenty of activities you’ll want to experience and you can always go back and do what you like again later in the day.
mini chef
Mini Chef is a completely unique LEGO restaurant in the LEGO House. You order your food via unique self-building bricks, and it’s delivered by LEGO robots Robert and Roberta.
The food isn’t the best for picky eaters, but LEGO fans will love this truly unique experience!
LEGO History Series
The LEGO History Collection is located in the basement of the LEGO House. It is the only official public LEGO collection in the world and is a must-visit museum for adults and LEGO fans alike.
We were in this area for 30 minutes, but adults visiting might stay longer.
Best Lego House Souvenirs

Best Lego Souvenirs in Billund
Any LEGO fan will want to commemorate their visit to the LEGO House with a souvenir. The LEGO House store is our favorite shop in all of Billund and the best place to buy unique LEGO sets.
LEGO House has several limited edition sets that are only available here, including LEGO Time building sets and limited time sets – when we were there they were selling replicas of the LEGO Mini Fig Pirates and the original LEGO Ducks.
It’s also not uncommon for LEGO designers to come to the LEGO House and sign sets they’ve designed. My little girl was delighted to find out that Rapunzel’s tower was built and signed by LEGO Masters competitor and current LEGO designer Boone!
