Sharp diners know the prestigious Michelin stars, which are restaurants that are given high food requirements to meet the Michelin Guide. But Michelin also awarded a lesser-known award that respects foods that meet those high cooking standards and does it in an environmentally friendly way: Green Michelin Stars.

The green star takes into account various factors such as the origin and seasonality of ingredients, resource use and promoting environmental awareness among diners.

“We want to provide more visibility to restaurant owners who are focused on sustainability,” said Michelin Guide Director.
