A new study has revealed the best amusement parks in the United States, with Disney taking seven of the top ten spots, but surprisingly, the number one park doesn’t have a castle.

#5 Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure
Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure ranked fifth on the list, with a Google rating of 4.7 stars and a score of 89.86 out of 100, with 84% of reviews rating it “excellent.” The park’s highest-rated attractions are Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventurewith a 4.7-star rating on Google.
#4 Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort
Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the world’s largest theme park, ranked fourth with a score of 90.76 out of 100. The conservation-focused animal theme park has a 4.7-star rating on Google and a 4.5-star rating on TripAdvisor, making it one of TripAdvisor’s top 10 attractions in the United States. The park’s most popular rides are Avatar Flight Channelwhich has a 4.8-star rating on Google.
#3 Disneyland at Disneyland Resort
Disney’s original California theme park ranked third with a score of 91.88 out of 100. The park welcomed more than 16 million visitors in 2022 alone and has a 4.7-star rating on Google.
#2 Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort
The second Disney park in California narrowly missed out on the top spot, scoring 92.79 out of 100. 81% of Google reviews and 67% of TripAdvisor reviews for California Adventure were rated “excellent.”
#1 Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort
Walt Disney World’s Epcot topped the list of the best amusement parks in the United States with a score of 92.83 out of 100. The park is known for its blend of innovation, technology and entertainment, with 80% of TripAdvisor reviews giving it an “excellent” rating, according to the survey.
In case you’re wondering, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom just missed the top five, coming in sixth place with a score of 87.73 out of 100, based on a 4.6-star rating on Google and a 4.5-star rating on TripAdvisor. However, the most magical place on earth did take first place in one category: It was the most visited of all the parks analyzed, with more than 17 million visitors in 2022.
Rounding out the top 10 best amusement parks in the U.S. are Universal Studios Florida (83.83/100), Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park (83.34/100), Cedar Point Theme Park in Ohio (83.01/100) and Disney’s Hollywood Studios (70.10/100).
“These findings show that Disney has the largest market share in the resort and park space, with seven of the top ten parks owned by Disney,” noted Hello Millions’ Joerg Nottebaum. “Surprisingly, Universal Studios Hollywood failed to make the top ten. [but] Even more shocking is that Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Magic Mountain failed to make the top 10 despite having some of the most thrilling roller coasters in the world.”
Methodology
The study analyzed seven factors to create an index that scored each park out of 100, with the highest-scoring parks considered the best.

- TripAdvisor Rating
- Percentage of five-star “Excellent” ratings on TripAdvisor
- TikTok posts with related tags
- Yelp Rating
- Percentage of five-star reviews on Yelp
