There are over 700 vineyards within a two-hour drive Cape Towndeciding which one to visit may pose a challenge. Fortunately, the estate closest to Cape Town Airport is a destination in itself – after two visits, it’s time to share this hidden gem.

Driving through Vergenoegd Löw The obvious expectation is put forward, namely, to leave the stress of life and embrace the excitement of the future. Follow the signs leading to the hotel, open the sliding door forward and a porter greets you in the car and prepares to assist your luggage. The staff continued to be warmly welcomed at the hotel reception, providing a refreshing towel to help calm down.

After completing the necessary paperwork, we were escorted into the golf cart and our journey began, winding through the estate. As we passed the hotel and the owner’s villa – and a bunch of grape cattle grazing in the fields – we found a row of white Dutch horn-style cottages, one of which would become our home for the next three days.

Room

The estate features six detached two-bedroom luxury cottages, and walking on the front balcony is a pleasant experience. Walking inside, we were welcomed by a lounge with a wood-burning fireplace and dining table. As a continuation of the warm welcome, our porters poured out our Cap Classique. This is usually offered at hotel receptions and sometimes I feel stressed to finish immediately, but it’s both smart and smart in our lounge.

Starting from the central lounge, two identical bedrooms extend outwards, both with a very comfortable King’s bed – for people to decorate many who like to create sleeping nests and walk through sliding doors to the outdoor balcony.

The outdoor space is effortlessly designed for relaxation: the spacious heated pool invites leisure and hang out, and the outdoor shower provides warm and cool water after swimming. The cottage is secluded with the rest of the farm and has a peaceful setting surrounded by gardens and the Stellenbosch Mountains in the distance.

Vergenoegd Löw also offers a beautiful boutique farm cabin where I stayed during my first visit. Each Deluxe Lodge Rooms is spacious 40 m² and has its own private deck with jacuzzi tub and outdoor furniture – all farm facilities are within a short walk.

Finally, stunning owner villa to choose from – modern custom designed home with six suite bedrooms. The yard has four vineyard suites, each with its own heated pool, which can also be rented to friends in the group or family seeking seclusion. And an impressive president – a wedding couple’s favorite!

Back to our luxury cottage, both bedrooms lead to a large bathroom with walk-in shower and separate bathtub. As a regular traveler South AfricaI was always curious about the facilities offered – I was amazed by Vergenoegd Löw when I discovered the familiar Healing Earth label of the familiar African spa brand.

Location

Vergenoegd Löw cannot be more convenient – is the closest estate to Cape Town Airport, which is only 20 minutes’ drive away. The city itself is only twice as far away – but there is no doubt that the estate still embodies the spirit of the winery, giving you a sense of escape from the hustle and bustle of civilization. While some accommodations may be new, the farm dates back to the early days of the cape.

A noteworthy example is the story of the Dutch Lutheran minister and artist Jan Brandes, who visited the farm in 1786 and created a wide range of paintings for buildings and botany that directed the current team to commemorate the farm’s legacy. Some of his works are on display in the famous Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and replicas are displayed in Clara’s barn.

Of the many activities offered by Vergenoegd Löw, you really don’t want to leave – which means you can indulge in the three cooking options on the farm. First, Clara’s barn is firmly placed in my four South African restaurants. It’s a perfectly culinary experience that offers pure Epicurus ecstasy, from 11-course products to breathtaking interiors, all paired with real estate wines – tucked in a quiet enclave of the farm.

Second, casual dining is provided in the farm’s central courtyard (and beautiful indoor rooms) in the morning and at noon in Geuwels. Hotel guests enjoy breakfast here, featuring delicious South African twists like the “Die Soutie” full breakfast and “Regmakertjie”.

Finally, with indoor dining, you can enjoy shrubless food in your bed – whether it’s in the pool, the dining room or my personal favorite! When watching the latest Netflix products, I’m more than lying my teeth outside of the burger on the bed, and nothing is more like sinking my teeth into the burger.

Then maybe the best wine can be saved for the last best vergenoegd Löw. We were lucky enough to spend some time with the charming winemaker Vusi Dalicuba, who led us through the wine. Vusi Dalicuba has been working in the prestigious winery since 2021. In a world where there are still very few Xhosa winemakers, he has made his mark very proud.

From exquisite fresh tropical and Sauvignon Blanc, fruit-wood balanced Chardonnay, lighter but elegant Shiraz, to attractive cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine is best enjoyed on the balcony of the estate home or indigenous tastings in the super stylish room. They come with many favorite South African snacks – rather than deciding on your remaining pairing to explore your mouthwatering flavour combination.

Other good feelings

In addition to painting and painting, the estate also has an impressive collection of sculptures. Art Walk is a self-guided or leading tour that includes several of the famous South African artists Dylan Lewis and Manuela Holzer.

A stroll will take you through the tranquil environment of the lake; as Eerste Rivier crosses the property, there is endless water and the canal will be well supplied with gardens and vineyards. Next to the tranquil Valentina church is the serene Valentina church that can accommodate up to 120 people for weddings and important ceremonies. The church is flanked by mazes and mazes, which provides some entertainment for your visit to the church.

The two guests at Lodge Rooms start with the vineyard suite at R7200, R9200, and then the cabin at R13200, four adults. The owner’s villa is optionally available upon request. All accommodations include a welcome drink in the room, a fruit basket, a Vergenoegd Löw tasting room for each stay, a limited minibar and then breakfast every day.

The best thing

When you mention the name of a farm, you usually hear the phrase “Ah, duck’s farm!” The adorable Indian runner duck has become a farm mascot – a thousand people called the farm, which can be gracefully crossed the lawn twice a day: start with the responsibilities of the day and the control of organic organic pests.

The final judgment

After all, you’ll see why I use the term “destination” to describe Vergenoegd Löw – If you think it’s just a wine tasting or a duck, they’ll miss it. After two stays, the farm already felt like home – the distance to Cape Town itself is very close, why isn’t there an extra home around the corner?
