The sides included are as basic as possible. Just like what you would eat in a cafeteria. This entire entree was a missed opportunity.
Next up is the cheeseburger. For $13.99, get a 1/3 pound Angus beef patty, cheddar cheese, 1000 Island sauce, caramelized onions and steak fries. The patty itself is not exciting at all like what you’d find at any fast food restaurant in Disneyland, but at least it’s served with grilled onions here.
I did appreciate the fresh vegetables included. Also, I have to admit this is probably the most theme-appropriate item from Flo’s. It does taste like a regular burger you get at the restaurant on the side of the highway when you’re on a road trip.
Steak fries fans rejoice! Speaking of French fries, you can opt to use Cuties instead of French fries. But wow, it’s not an equal trade-off. They only give you two small oranges in exchange for chips.
The Ramone’s Low and Slow Club ($13.49) includes sliced turkey breast, bacon, avocado bacon mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato on toasted white bread (served with the aforementioned Cuties Orange or Steak Fries). This is a pretty good club sandwich. I can’t imagine how you could mess up a club sandwich, but I’m happy to tell you that Disney doesn’t do that.
Here’s a cross-section for you.
Desserts are available with vanilla, chocolate, strawberry or Neopalitan milkshakes ($7.29). I chose neopalitan, which was totally fine. Not great, just okay. If I had to do a blind taste test between Flo’s milkshake and McDonald’s, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. They taste just like me. The “road gravel” is crushed Oreo cookies, which is a nice touch. Gone are those delicious mini pies that Flo used to sell.
If you’re looking for something healthier, check out the Cobb de Ville Salad. It’s topped with turkey breast, blue cheese, hard-boiled eggs, corn, tomatoes, and what Disney calls “crispy bacon.” The bacon on my plate was not crispy at all. Also note that I said “healthier” earlier, not “healthier”. Other than that, it was a nice salad for $12.49.
When talking about Flo’s V8 Cafe, we cannot fail to mention the theme. At night the exterior really comes alive thanks to the abundance of neon lights.
It’s also very beautiful inside, with a lot of things car Props, artwork and period-appropriate music.
I highly recommend dining outside on the patio overlooking Radiator Springs Racers. This is one of my favorite places in DCA to sit and relax with friends.
We think this is one of the best views in any Disney restaurant.
Overall, the food at Flo’s V8 Cafe was average, with no single item standing out from other fast food restaurants in Disney California Adventure. But it’s worth visiting and looking around, especially if you’re a car fan. Hopefully at some point the menu will be expanded again and some better items added.
