As Hurricane Milton batters Florida’s Gulf Coast, more than 200 American Airlines team members at the maintenance hangar at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) are packing more than 12,000 hygiene kits for distribution by Feeding America®.
Hygiene kits filled with personal care items and other essentials will be distributed to communities across western North Carolina, ensuring those impacted by Hurricane Helene have the support they need during this challenging time.
In addition, American Airlines donated food and blankets and partnered with Baby2Baby to transport nearly 5,000 pounds of items. Diapers, wipes, formula, body wash, blankets and baby food will be distributed to affected areas.
About a dozen CLT pilots also volunteered to fly more than 30,000 pounds of cargo in their private jets. Provides supplies to counties in western North Carolina. In addition, team members worked with CLT to organize a donation drive, filling a van with needed items such as non-perishable food, toiletries, baby essentials, new clothes and cleaning supplies.
American Airlines’ commitment to North Carolina is reflected in the nine cities the airline serves and the more than 17,500 team members who help support our operations across the state. CLT is home to the second largest hub in the United States, with surrounding airports serving thousands of passengers day in and day out.
AAdvantage® members have donated more than $4.3 million to support American Red Cross disaster relief efforts following the devastation caused by hurricanes and tropical storms in 2024.
As hurricane season continues through November 30, the need for support remains urgent. Through October 18, 2024, AAdvantage® members will earn 10 AAdvantage® bonus miles for every $1 donated to the Red Cross, with a minimum donation of $25.
