A brand new year, we are here. Let’s take a look at everything that happened in January 2025!

Highlights
A quiet, quiet month at home with the cat. This is the third year in a row when we don’t go anywhere in January (except for a day trip), and it’s very good. The best way to start a productive year.
One month dry for one month. I do a sober month every year and highly recommend it! This is a great reminder to consider how alcohol can penetrate into our lives and remember how to socialize without defaulting on drinking.
Re-enter strength training. One of my goals is to regain strength training and actually align with it. When I lived in New York, I was in the gym six days a week, but I couldn’t keep this level in Prague.
Honestly, there have been a lot of suitable things over the past few years, starting with resuming weightlifting. This time, I think this works because I started slowly and bit by bit.
I have a Peloton subscription (only $12.99 per month) and some weight. First, exercise for 10 minutes three times a week. Now, do 15 minutes of strength exercise four times a week. I know I will continue to grow from there.
Beyond? Not much happened this January!

challenge
The near-marriage horror on the tram. I was sitting in the seat on the tram, and suddenly the driver hit the rest time to avoid hitting an outgoing car. It was so suddenly that I flew to my feet and slammed it hard into the plastic layer on the side of the door.
I’m fine, but the rest of the day is in pain – saying to myself, “If this happens in the United States, someone will sue the city.” That said, we actually cover health care here, and I’m glad the drivers were able to stop so quickly and avoid real accidents.
Many veterinarians visit. On many medical issues in December, Murray has been linked to Lewis this month. He hurt himself somehow and although the first round of medications initially helped, his eyes got worse after we finished them.
Lewis is now using different medications prescribed by different veterinarians and I really hope they work this time. I hope my cute little bear returns to his usual self.
Giving a cat two sets of eye drops (five times a day, 10 minutes apart) is painful, especially when he wants to hide under the bed when he is the sickest. Once, I had to lie on the blanket, drag myself under the bed, grab Lewis, and let Charlie pull me with his feet. Fun time.

The most popular reels on Instagram
My highest reel of the month is not to visit any city in 2025. I haven’t done a lot of counter-impact things, but it’s necessary here.
The city is Rome. 2025 is the jubilee of the Catholic faith, which will keep the city increasingly crowded and expensive throughout the year. If you want to go, I recommend waiting until 2026.

I’ve heard this month
I’m listening to all 500 Rolling stones‘ 500 greatest albums everI like it very much. I love discovering new artists and listening to albums, and I have missed it all my life until now!
This month, I listened to the album 479-436. Here are the highlights:
Favorite finds: Eli and the Thirteenth Confession Laura Nyro. What a star. I’ve never heard of Laura Nyro – she’s a wild singer and songwriter who is talented, his soprano voice and songs frantically switch rhythms and melodies that will be home on Broadway.
In fact, Laura Nyro inspired many of the leading songwriters, including Elton John and Stephen Sondheim, who wrote songs for artists such as Barbra Streisand, Three Three Dog Night and Fifth Dimension.
She died of ovarian cancer like her mother. It’s painful to know that she was born decades later, she might take action to prevent this. I’m glad there are more options today, including genetic testing. Now I hope everyone knows her.
Other favorite findings: #1 Record Big star, 3+3 By the Isley brothers, Close to the edge Yes.
Favorite Revisit Album: Black night Maxwell. This is one of my favorite albums of all time – it helped me through 2010. I hated work at the time and took a long walk every day at lunch.
My favorite thing about this jazz-influenced R&B album – you can say it’s a little band where everyone can play perfectly and you can hear all the personality of the musician. It is highly recommended that you listen.
Favorite songs: Selena and Barrio Boyzz’s “Donde Quiera queestés”, “Slum Kids” of Teenagers, “Lu” of Laura Nyro, “You Should Be With Me”, “Al Green’s “You Should Be With Me”, “Why I Want to Be Sad”, “Breasts at the Message Center” by Britney Spears, “Trouble at the Message Center.”
Get the playlist: I created a playlist of my favorite songs on Spotify – up to one per album. You can listen here.
Low light this month: EGE BAMYASI Through cans. This German band obviously pioneered Krautrock – it’s one thing! Most of the album is audible, but in the middle they make this bad cacophony full of nails on the blackboard, but turn into 11 – why put it on the album?
Random thinking: The perfect length of the album is about 35-45 minutes. After more than an hour, it will start dragging. There are many artists that need to be edited, especially hip-hop artists from the 90s (I say this is hip-hop fan from the 90s). Some albums are so good at first, and end up becoming resistance because they have to include everything.
I’ve watched this month
It’s officially the Oscar season! My perfectionist tries to see all the best picture nominees and big prize nominations.
The highlight of this month is definitely in conclusion – Perfectly drawn, twists and tense political thriller about the Cardinal’s Choice of the Next Pope. Perhaps the most perfect movie I’ve ever seen in a long time. I hope Ralph Fiennes wins the Oscar.
I like it very much, too A totally unknownwhich makes me want to sneak into Bob Dylan and Joan Baez’s music (a lot of them Rolling stones List! ). Anora It’s the funny nails in the movie, and his performance is incredible, although I wish the movie had fewer male gazes.
We also watched the second season this month diplomat. A great drama on Netflix, appointed by Keri Russell as the US ambassador to the UK, he revealed a lot of really bad stuff and had a husband himself a great former ambassador, but the kind of guy that made me shout, “Her husband is a ding ding-dong-dong!” on screen every episode.
However, they do need to do more plots! The first season has eight episodes and the second season has six episodes. It has renewed the season.

Appeared in February 2025
Back to Mexico, baby! I love Mexico so much, it’s been three years now, and it’s time to come back.
Charlie and I and our friend Nick will visit four places: Merida, bacalar,,,,, Mexico Cityand Oaxaca. Four of my five favorite places in Mexico! (sorry, Guanajuatowe will miss you. )
Our agenda? Enjoy all our favorite Mexican things from the day at Los Rapidos in Bacalar to the night at Lucha Libre in Mexico City. Of course, and researching my Mexican content.
(After Covid hits and a million travel bloggers moved to Mexico and created a Mexican blog, I wrote an article from Mexico, which made my content difficult to rank – but now, almost all of these blogs are valued by Google updates, I feel like I’m ready to jump on Instagram and Instagram and Tiktok, especially when adding quality videos on Instagram.
As always, our dear friends and John of the Cat will move in to take care of Lewis and Murray in our absence. They may love him more than we do.
Are there any plans for February? share!
