As soon as spa guests enter the wrought-iron doors, they are greeted by the tranquil waters of a mosaic waterfall that pays homage to the local art of the Cabo region. Inside, a spacious lobby with vaulted ceilings and wooden beams welcomes guests. Full-height picture windows frame the exterior courtyard, providing a separate sensory experience and setting the stage for total relaxation.
The spa’s layout effortlessly blends form and function, reflecting intuitive space planning tailored to enhance the experience of relaxation. Tierra Mar’s signature treatments (which means “land by the sea”) originate from the colorful Baja coastline it overlooks. The 15,000-square-foot spa features 10 treatment rooms, including two couples’ suites and a signature spa suite, each overlooking its own private garden. Stunning open-air facilities include men’s and women’s hydrotherapy circuits, salt saunas and eucalyptus steam rooms, fitness center and plunge pools.
Bespoke body treatments, massages and facials skillfully combine a range of techniques to ensure an experience that engages all five senses. To complement their services, guests can choose from intoxicating scents derived from local essential oils.
“Each treatment room is named after a native Mexican plant, reflecting our deep connection with local flora,” Bustamante said. “All massages are carefully tailored to individual needs and incorporate a variety of techniques rather than strictly following traditional methods.”
One of the most popular massages is Olas del Mar, which means “waves” in Spanish. The massage therapist’s hands relax the body by imitating the motion of ocean waves – waves coming in and out. Blending Swedish and Californian techniques, unique Baja-infused massage oil strands enhance the tranquil experience.
Additionally, the Tierra Mar Signature Massage takes a different approach, using the rebozo (a traditional Mexican shawl) to enhance relaxation and provide therapeutic benefits through gentle, rhythmic movements.
A distinctive feature of all treatments is the use of custom Tierra Mar products, developed exclusively for the spa by Bustamante using native Mexican ingredients. Facials include the precision-driven 111SKIN range from Dr. Yannis Alexandrides and Mexican brand Apotheca Mía, which harnesses the powerful benefits of native plants.
