Last year, before Easter, my family and I went to Hoff (my boyfriend and son). On the way there, we stopped quickly exist Vík’s famous Reynisfjara. I grabbed the camera and took some great photos there. But believe it or not, I accidentally deleted all the photos! Typical me.

Reynisfjara is a world-famous black beach on the south coast of Iceland, right next to the small fishing village of Víkímýrdal. Reynisfjara is widely regarded as the most beautiful example of Black Sand Beaches in Iceland.
Those who walk the loop around the country or those who head to the Joel Lun Glacier Lagoon will pass it, I suggest you stop there!
However, visitors to Reynisfjara must be fully informed of the potential dangers on the beach! First, the rolling, roaring waves there are particularly violent, often bringing the beach far more than many people expect. These waves will also appear at the least expectations, even on incredible days. After we quickly stopped at Reynisfjara, we continued to drive to Höfn.
Glacier adventure on Breiðamrkurjökull
The day after we arrived, Jokeem (my boyfriend) woke up at 08:00 and drove to the guide to the glacier adventure. Our guide Mike drove us to the glacier Breiðamerkurjökull.
Breiðamerkurjökull is a glacier tongue extending from southern Vatnajökull to the glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón, creating the iceberg that defines this beautiful landmark.
Breiðamerkurjökull has been retreating, rupturing and melting, causing the size of the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon to increase: it is less than a century old, but it is already the deepest lake in Iceland. Our first stop was in the ice cave and it was amazing when Mike told us it was disappearing and not being there next year. It’s been melting and changing all the time.
As we left the ice cave, we put on crampons and started climbing the glacier. After a while, we found a crack. We sat down, had lunch, then climbed down the crack and entered the glacier! It’s so funny, a little scary…but it’s very interesting. We walked further into the glacier, which was a little narrow but incredible.
Once we start from the glaciers, the weather starts to be cooler and windy.
I recommend this experience to everyone who visits Iceland! You can check out the page of Glacier Adventures and see their quotes; https://glacieradventure.is. You can explore ice caves, kayaking, glacier climbing and more!
After a long and fun day, we kayaked in the sunset! It is so beautiful and peaceful. And we have some seals joining us!
I hope this gives you inspiration and knowledge, and of course, I hope you have the opportunity to experience this! Please continue to follow future blog posts!
