Disney announced today that Thomas Mazloum will soon succeed Ken Potrock as the new president of the Disneyland Resort.
If you’ve been following Theme Park Insider, you may recognize Mazloum as the head of Disney Experiences, which includes Disney Cruise Line. Late last year, we spoke with Thomas about the expansion of Disney Cruise Line: Disney looks to serve more fans in more markets with more ships.
Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experience, said: “Thomas is an innovative and inspiring leader with deep operational expertise, a deep passion for our cast and guest experiences and “With the recent approval of DisneylandForward, he will lead the Disneyland Resort through an exciting new era of growth, bringing opportunities for expansion and investment in Anaheim over the next 40 years.”
Mazloum has served as president of the New Experiences Portfolio and Disney Signature Experiences since 2020, overseeing Disney Cruise Line as well as Disney Vacation Club, Adventures by Disney and Disney Story Life. During his time with the company, he also held various positions at Walt Disney World Resort.
“With the launch of our 70th anniversary celebrations later this year, new experiences and opportunities for growth, now is the perfect time to take on this role,” Mazloum said. “I am honored to be asked to lead this exciting The incredible Disneyland Resort team and their continued commitment to preserving the culture and legacy of Walt’s first park while building for the future.”
Potrock will take over the new role of President of Major Events Integration for The Walt Disney Company. In this role, he will “focus on maximizing company-wide value for major sports, entertainment and travel events from the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics to the 250th Anniversary,” Disney’s press release said.
Potrock will continue to report to D’Amaro and will be accountable to ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro.
Top management changes can often become a game of musical chairs, so Joe Short, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, will take over as the new president of Disney Signature Experiences. Andrew Bolstein succeeds Joe as president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort.
The changes will take effect in March.
