You want to go to Costa Rica! Great, we can help you get there. But to help you do that, one of the questions we ask is what would you like to see and do there. Relax? Explore nature? Looking for adventure? All of the above and more? perhaps. There is so much available, we need to have a serious discussion about what your priorities are. To help you out, we’ve listed the top eight things to do during your visit. Let us know what’s on top of yours after reading!
8 Best Things to Do in Costa Rica
1. Hiking – This is probably the first activity that comes to mind when you think of Costa Rica, and there’s certainly no shortage of places to do it. Volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests – the choice is yours. Once you’ve decided, think about what level of difficulty you’re comfortable with. These two things will help in the best recommendations. Additionally, it is recommended that you consider a guided walking tour. Your expert leader will be able to provide general assistance and a trained eye for spotting wildlife.
2. Surfing – Surfers from all over the world visit Costa Rica year-round because of its warm waters and waves. Choose your coast – Pacific or Caribbean, choose your experience level – Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. We can even make some suggestions. If you need a course, it’s usually easy to find them, or even just step onto some beaches!

3. Snorkeling and Scuba Diving – Wildlife sightings are not limited to land. There are more than 7,000 marine species in the waters surrounding Costa Rica. So it’s no surprise that it tops the list of water activities. If you are a snorkeler, consider whether you want to snorkel by boat or from shore. If you are a diver, we can help recommend dive sites. Just let us know your experience level.
4. White water rafting – Costa Rica provides a stunning backdrop for this adventure. I can recommend some areas if that’s what you want to do. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, let us know what rapids strength you’re comfortable with and we can point you in the right direction. If the kids are up for a challenge, there are some options for them too. This is a great family activity!
5. Visit a waterfall – Some of Costa Rica’s most beautiful attractions can be found in its numerous waterfalls. After all, it’s amazing how water cascades down the cliffs into the pools below. There are many options to choose from, just keep a few things in mind. Some waterfalls require hiking to access, entrance fees vary, some allow swimming and some do not. If you are unable to rent a car during your stay, you may also consider taking a guided tour.
6. Zipline – If you’ve Googled “Excursions in Costa Rica,” you may have seen a photo of someone effortlessly flying through green canopies, rivers, and cliffs. This is a very popular event and is held all over the country. You should expect safety demonstrations and short hikes. You’ll then skate row by row, each row a little longer than the previous one. If you are a thrill seeker, this is a must do! If not, we wouldn’t recommend it. Don’t invest in something if you’re not 100% satisfied.
7. Bird watching – It’s not uncommon for people to travel to Costa Rica for this purpose
Makes sense. Some enthusiasts even plan entire itineraries around the activity. There are over 900 species, the most common being toucans, macaws and hummingbirds. Since the country is very ecologically diverse, there are several places where you can stop and see. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!

8.Yoga—— Yes, you read that right! Costa Rica is truly a paradise for yoga lovers. You can watch or take lessons almost anywhere – at a resort, at the beach, at a volcano or in the rainforest. If you are a beginner, try it at least once. If you are a health enthusiast and this is your reason for traveling, then it belongs on your bucket list. Think wellness retreats, studio group trips, coach training, or continuing education locations.
