Oyo names Sinha Motel 6 after deal finalized

Oravel Stays, the parent company of Indian budget hotel giant Oyo, announced this week that it has completed the acquisition of G6 Hospitality, the parent company of Motel 6 and Studio 6, from Blackstone Real Estate for $525 million. Oyo subsequently appointed Sonal Sinha, head of Oyo US, as G6 CEO.

OYO announced G6 protocol September. The company said it will retain the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, which include about 1,500 hotels in the United States and Canada, and plans to add more than 150 hotels to its portfolio “by 2025.”

In a statement, the company said it plans to evolve its technology infrastructure, promising “enhanced mobile and web booking experiences as well as dynamic pricing feature options that can optimize prices for different room types year-round,” as well as distribution options beyond online travel agencies. ” At the same time, we will strengthen direct booking channels and corporate booking needs.”

Oyo said it plans to “primarily hire team members in franchisee-facing functions while consolidating and aligning some functions to create better synergies across the organization.”

Sinha has been with Oyo since 2015, primarily in international roles, including chief development officer and chief financial officer of the company’s international holdings. He succeeds former G6 president and CEO Julie Arrowsmith, who is leaving the company, according to Oyo.
