Global GDS and technology company Saber has unveiled a new multi-year agreement with Saga Travel Group, a leader in over-50 travel.
This strategic transaction leverages its technology solutions to transform Saga’s travel business into Saber’s travel marketplace.
The marketplace includes travel content from more than 400 airlines, 2 million accommodation options and hundreds of travel agencies, rail, car rental and cruise providers, selling customized travel packages from suppliers around the world.
John Constable, CEO of Saga Travel Group, said: “We are shifting our business to Saber as their strategic partner program will solidify important partnerships with industry and technology providers.”
“Sabre demonstrated an understanding of our business goals and provided us with the tools to support our goals”.
Saga Travel Group uses third-party provider Tigerbay’s tour operator platform as its primary point-of-sale application to host and manage its travel content.
Sabre’s partner Tigerbay provided a solution that “fitted” Saga’s requirements.
The deal is one of the tech giant’s most significant developments in the European market in recent years.
“Saga’s bold and ambitious travel business goals require technology support and solutions in three main areas,” said Nisha Botevyle, director of strategic development for EMEA at Sabre.
“A strong travel marketplace with traditional and NDC content, technology products to streamline the team’s work, and a strategic relationship with another technology provider so the system can run seamlessly.
“At Saber we have been able to successfully meet all three of these needs and this now represents one of the most significant travel technology movements in recent years by a major UK institution.”
