Walt Disney World Statement on Possible Category 3 Hurricane Helene and Its Impact on Resort Operations

Tropical Storm Helene is approaching Florida and will hit the state as a Category 3 hurricane, bringing severe weather to all of Central Florida, including Disney World.

Potential Hurricane Helene Hurricane Apollo is rapidly strengthening in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to make landfall in Florida as a Category 3 hurricane, causing severe damage across the state.

Severe weather is expected across Central Florida on Thursday. The entire region, including Disney World, is under a tropical storm warning. The first weather warning has been issued, indicating that resort operations may be affected in the coming days.

Disney’s brief statement reads: “Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the storm’s path and continue to prioritize the safety of our guests and cast members.”

In the coming hours, we expect to hear more about Walt Disney World’s plans for the upcoming storm.

Walt Disney World Inclement Weather Policy

If the National Hurricane Center issues a hurricane warning for the Orlando area (or where you live) within 7 days of your scheduled arrival date, you may reschedule or cancel Walt Disney Travel Agency Disney Resort Hotel packages and most room-only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without Disney charging any cancellation or change fees. Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified or canceled online, including changing travel dates.

If your holiday includes products and services provided by third-party suppliers (such as air transportation, hotels, car rental companies or travel insurance companies), you will continue to be responsible for any non-refundable payments and cancellation or change fees charged by these suppliers. This policy does not apply to certain special activities or dining experiences.

This policy also applies to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort if a hurricane warning is issued for those destinations.
