MSC Cruises to resume sailings to Spain and the US this summer – The Cruise Blogger

MSC Cruises has announced that it will restart its sailing operations in Spain, with the MSC Grandiosa heading to Barcelona from June 26, departing on Saturday. From July 30, Valencia will be an additional port of call.

Previously, the cruise line announced that its ships will resume itineraries to Germany, France and the Baltic region, in addition to the current and confirmed Western Mediterranean, Eastern Mediterranean and UK itineraries for summer 2021. MSC Cruises to build new cruise terminal in Barcelona

MSC Cruises has received final approval from the Port of Barcelona’s Board of Directors to build and operate a dedicated cruise terminal. The multi-year concession will provide for the construction of an innovative 11,670 square meter terminal, which MSC Cruises will operate and manage for 31 years. The project is expected to cost €33 million, funded by MSC Cruises. Construction work on the new terminal will begin shortly and is expected to be operational in 2024.

The new terminal will be equipped with shore power facilities and prepared for LNG bunkering operations, which will also enable MSC Cruises to deploy more of its new generation of environmentally friendly ships in Barcelona. This includes MSC Cruises’ first LNG-powered cruise ship, MSC World Europa, which is currently under construction and expected to enter service in 2022.
