Toronto It is a metropolis known for its diversity. More than half of the city’s residents were born abroad, making it one of the most multicultural cities in the world. There is not only Chinatown and Little Italy, but also Greektown, Koreatown, Little India, Little Poland, Little Portugal, and even Little Malta!
Toronto also has iconic landmarks like the CN Tower (one of the tallest free-standing buildings in the world), a vast waterfront, and countless museums. There’s also tons of delicious food to eat. Whenever I visit, I never get bored.
I’ve visited Toronto many times over the years (it’s a quick flight from where I grew up). The city is big and spread out, and there are a lot of hotels to choose from. But I know from experience that not all hotels are great. So, to help you have a good time, save money, and enjoy the city, here’s my list of the best hotels in Toronto:
1. Ace Hotel
This four-star hotel is located in the Garment District (between Chinatown, trendy Queen Street West, and downtown Toronto). Walking into the spacious lobby feels like walking into the set of a Wes Anderson movie, with its minimalist, retro-chic design featuring muted tones and soft wood paneling. I love that the lobby is also a super-cool cocktail bar (literally “hall”), which comes alive at night with the city’s trendy set. (In the mornings, you can enjoy trendy breakfast items here, like avocado toast and smoked salmon flatbreads.) The hotel also has a rooftop bar with amazing views and regular DJ nights, as well as a fitness center.
Rooms come in large, medium, and small sizes (there are also suites), and large windows let in lots of natural light. I loved all the uniquely Canadian touches, like the in-room record player playing a selection of Canadian vinyl from Toronto Records, the minibar stocked with locally made products, and the comfy beds covered with custom, locally made quilts. All rooms have 55-inch TVs, and the beautiful tiled bathrooms have walk-in showers (some have bathtubs), designer toiletries, fluffy bathrobes, and hairdryers.
2. Fairmont Royal York Hotel
Located directly across from Toronto Union Station (Toronto’s main train station), the Fairmont Royal York is an iconic and historic five-star hotel. It opened in 1929 as a railway hotel and has been the official residence of Queen Elizabeth II in Toronto. The hotel retains the decor and style of the time and I love all the elegant old-world charm. I really enjoyed having a cocktail in the Art Deco lobby and soaking up the atmosphere. The hotel also has an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center with sauna and steam room, and a restaurant that serves a large buffet breakfast.
The Deluxe Rooms are spacious and filled with natural light, and also feature a minibar, desk, small table, flat-screen TV, plush bathrobes, slippers, and a tea/coffee maker. The large tiled bathrooms have walk-in showers, excellent water pressure, and free toiletries. Wi-Fi is charged (which I think is ridiculous for a hotel of this caliber), but it is free if you sign up for a free AccorHotels account. Overall, the Royal York is a great choice for luxury accommodation in the city center, close to all the city’s major landmarks and attractions.
3. Broadview Hotel
This historic hotel in trendy Riverside was originally built in 1891 and has been restored to become a beautiful four-star boutique hotel. The rooftop bar offers great views, and there’s a lovely cafe downstairs that serves breakfast in the morning. I particularly loved the spacious rooms, which have gorgeous red curtains, high ceilings, large windows and dark wooden floors. The decor also adds a touch of whimsy, with glass potted plants, funky floral wallpaper and even a record player in each room.
The room was light filled and also had a desk, flat screen TV, minibar, French press coffee maker and wardrobe. The pillow top bed was super comfortable with luxurious Italian linens. I also loved the small reading light on the headboard (perfect for a nighttime book). While the bathroom was a little small and lacked some features (I found no place to hang or store anything), the huge walk-in shower had great water pressure and locally made toiletries.
4. Park Hyatt Toronto
The Park Hyatt Toronto is located in Yorkville, an upscale neighborhood known for its high-end shopping, fine dining, and luxury hotels. As a five-star hotel, the design throughout the hotel is modern and sophisticated, with stylish furniture, tasteful artwork, and harmonious color schemes. The on-site restaurant is an upscale steakhouse (serving hearty breakfast dishes like steak and eggs), and there’s also a small fitness center.
The room was spacious and comfortable, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light. Room amenities included a Bluetooth speaker, 55″ flat-screen HDTV, safe, minibar, blackout curtains and a Nespresso coffee machine. The bathroom was spacious with a walk-in shower and free luxury toiletries. I usually think Park Hyatt hotels never disappoint (They are a great place to use your points So I stay in there a lot).
5. Royal Sonesta Yorkville
The Royal Sonesta Hotel is also located in Yorkville, right across from the Royal Ontario Museum (one of my favorite museums). This four-star hotel has an indoor heated rooftop pool, a massage room, a vodka bar (with over 50 vodkas from around the world), and an on-site restaurant with a menu inspired by Toronto’s cultural diversity.
I loved the modern, minimalist design of the rooms, with lots of natural light. They also had a large desk, a seating area, a Nespresso machine, a flat-screen TV, and a minibar. The large marble bathroom had a walk-in shower (though I found the water pressure a little low), plus comfortable bathrobes and slippers. I also loved the 24/7 fitness center.
6. Pantages Hotel City Center
This stylish high-rise hotel is located in the heart of downtown Toronto. The Pantages Hotel is especially great for those with theater tickets, as it’s just steps away from several historic performing arts venues. I love that you’re right next to the historic Fran’s Restaurant. It dates back to the 1940s, is open 24 hours a day, and serves classic diner fare (including a delicious breakfast).
The room was very spacious and bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows and beautiful hardwood floors. I really loved the design of the room, with gorgeous royal blue curtains, plush carpeting, and unique artwork on the wall. The room also had a large desk, Keurig coffee maker, a safe, and a flat-screen TV (deluxe rooms or suites have a kitchenette). I found the bed to be very comfortable, with a cozy comforter and high-thread-count sheets. The large marble bathroom was recently renovated and was very beautiful, with a walk-in shower and luxurious bath products.
Canada The largest cities are filled with Unique community There are fun things to see, do and eat everywhere (I love eating in town). There are many hotels to choose from, but pick one from the list above and you’ll definitely have a great time here. Toronto!
