Days 1-3: Reykjavik – the heart of Icelandic culture and nature

How to visit Iceland

  • Reykjavik to Golden Circle: Drive from Reykjavik to the Golden Circle (about 1 hour). Be sure to visit Thingvellir National Park, Geysir and Gullfoss.
  • Golden Circle to South Coast (Vic): Drive from the Golden Circle to Vik on Route 1 (2-3 hours), with stops at Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss and Reynisfjara Beach.
  • South coast (Vik) to Vatnajokull glacier: Drive from Vik to Vatnajökull (3-4 hours) and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
  • Vatnajökull to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon: Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is a 30-minute drive from Vatnajökull Glacier.
  • Glacier Lagoon to Reykjavik: Finally, drive back to Reykjavik (5-6 hours), retracing your steps on Route 1.
