While I’m excited for this new expansion, I’m heartbroken over the loss of my favorite land in all of Disneyland. So, to make sure this land lives on forever (at least on the internet), here are 3 facts about DinoLand America you should know before it disappears forever!
Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasure Was Once a Gas Station
Yes, this quirky merchandise store filled with dinosaur merchandise started out as a gas station along Route 498 in Diggs County. Remnants of its origins can also be found next to the shop, where an old petrol pump and sign are still on display.
Store owners Chester and Hester have turned their gas station into an empire of dinosaur tourist attractions, including this awesome store. If you’re curious about what the genius creator looked like, the store also displays photos of Chester and Hester.
Dino-Rama is the ultimate roadside attraction
Chester and Hester didn’t just stop at a merchandise store, oh no, they created an entire dinosaur-themed roadside attraction! Dino-Rama is a carnival-themed area designed to be the ultimate cash grab for visitors interested in the adjacent dinosaur institute.
Here you can play boardwalk style games and fly on a Triceratops while listening to some fun upbeat music. This is the ultimate stop for dinosaur lovers. Total genius! If you’re a fan of Hidden Mickey, you’ll want to keep an eye out for the inside of Dinorama!
Restaurantosaurus is more than just a fast food restaurant
At first glance, restaurant dragon It may look like just a quaint little diner perfect for enjoying some all-American food, but it’s actually much more than that. It is said that this was once a small fishing lodge in Diggs County. But once the Dinosaur Institute opens, it becomes the ultimate hangout for paleontology students!
Fossils and field gear set the scene, and fun dinosaur decorations keep your eyes exploring. Every detail adds to the immersive atmosphere, with different parts of the restaurant telling specific parts of the story.
The restaurant is divided into four themed areas:
- The central “Old Museum” area.
- Dinosaur Academy student dormitory.
- “The Hip Joint”: A recreation room styled like a classic 1950s diner, with an old trailer attached to the building.
- The Dinosaur Institute’s Auto Pool: A garage where students playfully painted dinosaur murals on the walls using engine grease.
Dinoland USA is filled with rich stories that you can unravel with every intentional detail left behind. That’s one of the reasons why it’s so amazing and will be missed once it’s gone.
